Naomi Schlegel is one of the many up-and-coming Operatic Stars coming out of Wilfred Laurier University's Music Studies Program in Waterloo, Canada.
This was just one of those sessions. The make up and hair were perfect. The lighting I'd planned for, worked right off the top. No adjustments. The headshot we got was GREAT. Done. Wrap. But as I was turning lights off, and had put my camera down, I looked over, and Naomi was illuminated by one work light I had off on the side. -an old 150w fresnel. I asked her to freeze, relax her shoulders and find the light. Chin up slightly, breath in and deep exhale out -CLICK!
A moment of grace and perfection captured.
Its fun when everything aligns...and strange how often it is that final frame on the roll -when everyone has exhaled and we've stopped thinking. The moment of flow.
